LAKE EFFECT ( A Jordan Reed Mystery)By K.C. Gillis #LakeEffect @kcgilliswriter @damppebbles #damppebblesblogtours.

I would like to thank Emma Welton, of #damppebblesblogtours for inviting me to take part in this blog tour.

I absolutely loved the first book in the Jordan Reed series, so when asked if I wanted to read the next book I jumped at the chance. Boy am I glad I did. If you haven’t read the first in the series, I highly recommend you do, however it’s not essential, as this book reads as a stand-alone, with a new storyline and plot. I just love seeing the characters develop.

Jordan Read is a reporter for the Boston Courant, since her last big adventure she has spent time giving interviews, although this is not something she is keen on. Looking forward to a weeks annual leave, no interviews, no looking for stories seems appealing. Until Travis asks her a favour, a friend has asked if he can get Jordan to look into the strange death of some fish, I say strange as they are a weird shape, with eyes boggling out. Jordan initially says no, she is having a holiday, but Travis asks her to just look at the photographs he has before she decides. Of course once she sees them she knows this is something she cannot ignore. Plus it mean a trip to Copper Lake, where she can hopefully combine a break with a story.

As any readers of the first book know nothing is ever that simple when Jordan is involved. She asks Travis if he will,be able to get away if she needs him, and also asks her sister Rachel join her at the lake, which will give her a better cover story.

Jordan is noticed from day one but the local sheriff who had collected the fish and had thought he had destroyed them all, but his son Derek had found it odd, so had kept a couple of fish by. But as more and more things start happening at the lake, mysterious accidents. Two buyers wanting to buy the Marina business despite the owner not wanting to sell. What is behind the big gates that Jordan finds?

This is another 5⭐️ read in this series, we see the old characters back together again, Charlie for the CDC doesn’t have such a big role in this book, but it’s good to see him mentioned again, Travis Jordan’s ex boyfriend, and bar owner and computer guy, coming to help. The story flows brilliantly, never a dull moment, unsure which way things are going to go, with corruption, from several people with different positions of authority, who is responsible for the dead fish? Is there more at risk? Full of great characters, good and bad. This is a gripping read, engaging, engrossing, and entertaining. Looking forward to book 3.

Mysterious marina accidents. Destroyed evidence. Can a tenacious reporter decipher the twisted clues at a small-town lake?

Jordan Reed is burned out from all the attention on her previous high-profile story. But when a new lead lands in her lap, she reluctantly postpones her vacation to investigate a classic New England marina. With hundreds of dead fish washing up on Copper Lake’s otherwise pristine shores, Jordan suspects a sinister cover-up.

But by the time she arrives on the scene, she’s surprised to discover the police chief eliminated every last carcass and seems hellbent on blocking her inquiries. And her search for the culprit takes a perilous turn when gambling kingpins descend on the city and a string of unexplained calamities plague the docks.

Can Jordan expose the corruption, or will she be the next to go belly-up?

Lake Effect is the second book in the fast-paced Jordan Reed mystery series. If you like steely female sleuths, gripping action, and clever twists that’ll keep you guessing, then you’ll love K.C. Gillis’s page-turning mystery.
