I am a 61 year old lady who loves reading. I am disabled so have time on my hands to read. I decided to give blogging a go. my thoughts on books I’ve read or am currently reading. Hoping to help some new authors get recognised as well as reviewing books by authors I already read and love. I was a nurse many years ago which I loved, but due to health reasons I couldn’t continue. I was also a special constable for a couple of years. I began studying criminology at university in 2010 but again for health reasons I couldn’t complete the course. I love crime fiction as well as following true crime on television and books. I have 4 grown up children who now have lives of there own I have 2 grandchildren so far with number 3 on the way later this year. My other hobbies are cross stitching which I find relaxing when watching the television and not reading. Although with Osteoarthritis in my hands or thumbs, and having hand five operations and waiting for another one, it’s proving harder to stitch now, so sadly I may have to give up that hobby. I have quite a few books to read between now and the end of February, so I want to focus on those for now. I am starting to find it a bit difficult constantly reading on a screen as well, so would like to start considering reading more physical books than ebooks, unless it’s something I am really itching to read. I do sometimes purchase both copies of books when they are released if the kindle one is on offer, that way I can read the physical book during the day and pick up the kindle at night. I am not sure how people get advance copies from publishers although I have received a couple which is quite nice, and I have really enjoyed actually reading a physical book. I also have so many recently purchased that I am itching to read when I get the chance. To lose yourself in a well written book is an absolute delight, to feel close to the characters, like they are friends, to be moved to tears by something written, is what I love in a book. I want to feel I can relate with the characters or understand them, to have a connection, if you are reading a book that you really don’t want to put down until you’ve turned that last page, the. That writer has done a great job, if I find my mind wandering because the story isn’t grabbing me and holding my attention, then it’s one of a few things for me, I either don’t like the pace of the story, since I’ve been reviewing I have realised I like a fast paced book, it may be a genre that I am not keen on but have decided to give it a go, or I just don’t like any of the characters, which means I don’t care what happens to them. It’s great to be hooked from page one until the end, and not see that ending coming, and that book stays in your head.
