Welcome to my spot on the book blog tour of A Wash of White. I am delighted to be a part of this tour.

SYNOPSIS

ITS NOT LIFE THAT IMITATES ART. ITS DEATH

Anna Simon’s. Famous. Talented. Dead. The body of a famous actress is found mutilates on an ice rink in Manchester, recreating a scene from a blockbuster film she starred in years ago.

DI Erika Piper, having only recently returned to work after suffering a near-fatal attack herself, finds she must once again prove her worth as the hunt for the media-dubbed ‘Blood Ice Killer’ intensifies.

But when another body is found and, this time, the killer issues a personal threat, Erika must do more than put aside her demons to crack the case, or suffer the deadly consequences.

If you like Ian Rankin, Val McDermid and Cara Hunter, you will love this.

MY REVIEW

Wow, I loved this book! I pre ordered back at the end of 2019, sat patiently waiting for the book to arrive, well maybe not quite that patiently. But when it arrived, I dived straight on in. HOOKED from page one. You would never know that it is a debut novel. It’s flawlessly written, the story just flows off the page, the characters are three dimensional, relatable, believable. There’s never a dull moment. I whizzed through unable to put it down. You feel like you know them right from the start. Mr McDonald didn’t spend lots of time setting up descriptive scenes, it wasn’t necessary. He dives straight into the story, which I loved. As you read, you get little insights into the characters. I have a feeling that DI Erika Piper will be around for a while.

The protagonist, DI Erika Piper, is a strong woman, who has her demons after an attack, on a previous case, that had left her q we www and ww was we bout. Sent straight back in at the deep end.

Her work partner Detective Liam Sutton, has a good relationship with Erika and is glad to have her back. The rapport between them is great. I love the fact the author has put a bit of humour within the story. We learn a little of Erika’s backstory, as well as her family, and relationships.

The other characters that work within the police are all very well crafted, I was sat wondering who could play who if it was made into a television series. The opening page literally draws you straight into the story, who killed this actress and posed her in the position she played in a film she had starred in? Why?

There are a couple of characters it could be, but the team need evidence, DCI Bob wants an early clean up,especially with the media on his back, but things aren’t always that easy. Luckily Erika doesn’t tunnel vision and follows the evidence, before making her move. She won’t stop until she is sure she has the right person, especially with it involving a famous actress. But when another dead body turns up. The tension and pressure rises. Who wanted these people dead? What is the link?

This is going on my best books of 2020 pile and it is definitely a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read, without a doubt. A new author I will be following. I literally cannot wait for book 2 of DI Erika Piper. The whole plot, investigation, characters all blend so well to tell a story. A perfect read for any crime lovers out there. Fantastic!
